Christian Cesa Mountain Guide in Aosta Valley

I live in Aosta Valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc and Matterhorn, and I am a UIAGM licensed  Mountain Guide

Born and raised in Belluno in the Dolomites, I started climbing when I was seven years old with the ascent of the Civetta and from there, my passion fo the mountains leads me to reach difficulties till 8a and to do great classic climbs as Philipp-Flamm dihedral in Civetta and more recent routes as Tempi Moderni in Marmolada.

The desire to became a Mountain Guide arose from that and I achieved this aim when I went to live in Aosta Valley. At the beginning I was in the army as a second lieutenant and then I worked in La Thuile as a professional Ski patroller and then a Ski resort snow safety supervisor.

Now I am a full-time Mountain Guide and rock climbing and mountaineering are my favorite disciplines and in winter I love ski mountaineering and telemarking. I became instructor of the Italian Mountain Guides and instructor of Italian Mountain Rescuers. I am a member of the mountain rescue team in the Aosta Valley  andI also work as a nivological observer for the Aosta Valley Snow and Avalanche warning Service. Cycling is my other passion and I am a Bike Guide.

I am member of the "Società Guide Alpine Courmayeur", the first mountain guide association to be established in Italy and the second oldest association in the world.

Born as a climber, in Aosta Valley I discovered mixed climbing and alpine routes ascending classic and modern routes as the American Direct on the Petit Dru, the American Direct on the Aiguille du Fou, Voyage selon Gulliver on the Grand Capucin. Among the other important climbs are Schmidt route on the Matterhorn North Face in Winter, the Peuterey Integral on Mont Blanc, Mount Mckinley in Alsaka, The Nose route on El Capitain in Yosemite and Mt. Everest reaching Camp 3 (8,300 m. / 27,000 ft). During the expedition to the highest mountain in the world I was assisting the Italian skyrunner Bruno Brunod who attempted a record of ascend and descend of Mount Everest but he had to stop after 16 hours at Camp 3 and we got down safely.

Now I have 20 years of experience in guiding clients and I'm lucky to travel all over the world to find out the best mountain experience for my clients and security is my foremost concern.
